Ph.D. in Software and Systems


The PhD in Software and Systems covers a broad spectrum of paradigms that provide the groundwork and structure for software and the software development process today. The programme also covers key software engineering issues to which today's software engineers are still looking for satisfactory solutions, such as, for example, software verification and validation techniques or new development methodologies. This degree is geared towards the technologies involved in software and systems development, delving deeply and specializing in a number of issues related to current software and systems research.

The PhD in Software and Systems targets university degree holders with informatics-related studies.

In application of the current legislation (Royal Decree 99/2011), the PhD in Software and Systems will be extinguished in September 2017. The PhD in Software and Systems and the PhD in Advanced Computing for Science and Engineering, PhD programs from the UPM Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Informáticos both distinguished with a Ministry of Education Quality Mention distinction, have decided to merge into the new PhD program of PhD in Software, Systems and Computing by the UPM, which started in 2014.
