Outline
The PhD in Software and Systems covers a broad spectrum of paradigms that provide the groundwork and structure for software and the software development process today. The programme also covers key software engineering issues to which today's software engineers are still looking for satisfactory solutions, such as, for example, software verification and validation techniques or new development methodologies. This degree is geared towards the technologies involved in software and systems development, delving deeply and specializing in a number of issues related to current software and systems research.
The PhD in Software and Systems targets university degree holders with informatics-related studies.
Under current legislation (Royal Decree 99/2011), the PhD in Software and Systems will expire in September 2017. The PhD in Software and Systems and the PhD in Advanced Computing for Science and Engineering, Doctorate Programs of the Facultad de Informática of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid both distinguished with the Mention to Excellence, have decided to merge in the new program of Doctorate in Software, Systems and Computing from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, which will begin teaching in September 2013 (pending approval by the ANECA).
